David is a senior chartered engineer with significant experience leading Electrical Safety in chemical and food manufacturing working within large multinational companies.
After graduation, he was trained by ICI and then DuPont in their safety systems. He held many engineering roles at manufacturing sites, including in instrumentation and online analysis, technical project management, the manager of a steam and power plant, commissioning manager, Six Sigma black belt & site Control Electrical Engineer.
His next move was to become an Electrical Safety Professional for DuPont. At first this was to lead electrical safety at 10 UK manufacturing sites. As well as needing an Electrical Safety Management System implemented, those sites all needed Arc Flash Analysis and Risk Assessment. He was trained on software compliant with IEEE1548 to carry out Arc Flash calculations, along with understanding Arc Flash PPE standards, giving training on arc flash and eventually Arc Flash energy reduction including Electrical Safety by design.
As part of his role as an Electrical Safety professional, he took on electrical safety auditing for other sites in EMEA and became part of the core of the European Electrical Safety team. In those years, he actively contributed to developing the DuPont Europe electrical safety management system, the electrical safety procedures, implementing the system at sites, and auditing the compliance at many sites including in the USA, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and most European countries.
With the acquisition of a food manufacturer by DuPont he took on the task of establishing the DuPont electrical safety management system at sites in Belgium, Holland, Finland and South Africa.
His final role for DuPont Electrical Safety was to be the global electrical safety audit leader and was an active member of both the corporate Electrical Safety Team and the Global SHE Audit Team.
He now brings his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to ESUK.
