The Electrical Engineer is responsible for:
- Involvement in activities within Electrical Safety UK Limited requiring elements of Electrical Engineering including but not limited to Electrical System Studies and follow-on work and Electrical Safety Management. This involves face-to-face client interaction and consultancy/advice.
- Provide Support and feedback to the Principal Electrical Consultants and the consultancy team including providing status reports, updates and understanding of basic business requirements.
- On-time and on budget Project Delivery.
- Supervisory position over Graduate/Junior Electrical Engineers and involvement in Business Development Activities to aid in meeting company objectives.

1. Electrical Engineering Duties
Build electrical system models including:
- Preparing for data collection – reviewing single-line diagrams and other customer-sourced documentation
- Data collection – on-site at customers’ premises in varied types of industry e.g. aerospace; food; offices; metal processing; pharmaceuticals; heavy industry etc.
- Building a model – data entry of protection, cable, transformer and switchgear details
- Researching unknown information – building protection curves; obsolete equipment; data sheet acquisition etc
- Compiling verification pack and sending that to the client for sign-off
Analysis and report production:
- Run studies using the software model – short circuit studies; arc flash studies and protection studie
- Production of client documentation – SLDs & labels
- Customer interaction and helping the customer to provide outstanding information
- Produce draft report including recommendations
- Incident energy analysis and remedial work packs
- Task based risk assessment on equipment
- Ability to act in the capacity of consultant on matters of Electrical Engineering including involvement with the team to produce high level technical reports including recommendations following Electrical Audits taken in to account International, European and UK Legislation, Guidance and standards.
- Present reports to clients via web meetings, page turn exercises and onsite presentation.
Arc flash software:
- Report arc flash software bugs to software developer
- Incorporate software releases and updates into arc flash study software
- Demonstrations of Software capabilities on clients’ sites or via video conference
- Undertaking training for the client, specific to the reports issued.
Training:
- Deliver training courses produced by others
- Assessments as part of the training courses
Consultancy:
- Electrical Safety Management Systems – production; audit; improvement
- Electrical Safety Rules – production; audit; improvement
- Other consultancy work
- Contribute towards and implement risk assessments and method statements. Undertake to complete site specific point-of-work risk assessments.
- Produce proposals in conjunction with Project Manager for approval by the Principal Electrical Consultant
- Deputise for Project Manager as required and/or assist Project Manager as requested.
- Follow-on work from Electrical System Studies e.g. short circuit, arc flash and protection studies.
1. General Office Duties
Ensure project documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored.
- Maintenance of job files and documentation required for project completion.
- Undertake quality checks on all outgoing documentation in accordance with the Proof Reading and Formatting Guidelines, ensuring that Quality Management
- Procedures are adhered to.

2. Budget & Target Management
Work with the Project Manager to:
- Submit project status reports to stakeholders
Project Management:
- Monitoring of progress of individual projects – reporting on variance from program and budget
- Updating of project trackers
- Updating Synergist – communication records; timesheets
- Attend and participate in internal and external launch meetings and project close out
- Manage variations in a timely manner
